Instructor Profile
As a child, with a father who loved calligraphy, I spent every Saturday afternoon learning calligraphy with his students. I began writing with a brush at age six. I still remember my first exhibition — a seal script "Peace" on half a four-chi xuan paper — which remains one of my most representative works. At fourteen, I went abroad to study. My father designed a personal curriculum just for me, and my mother kept preparing the Four Treasures of the Study for me to take overseas, ensuring my calligraphy practice was never interrupted!
Besides calligraphy, my father also had me memorize "The Great Learning — Chapter One" from a young age. I didn't fully understand it then! But these words stayed with me, and I gradually came to understand them as I grew up. To this day, this classic, hailed as "the gateway to virtue and the art of being human," has positively influenced my approach to work and inner cultivation. My favorite passage is:Things have their root and their branches; affairs have their end and their beginning. To know what is first and what is last will lead one close to the Way.This wisdom has greatly benefited my career development and innovation.
Today, the creation of this "Calligraphy Self-Learning Software" stems from a mission to carry on a legacy! Seeing my father's already busy life as a principal, yet never diminishing his passion and dedication to teaching calligraphy, I felt the utmost respect and admiration! When I reflected on the decades he had devoted to calligraphy research and his vision for innovation, I didn't want this treasure to go to waste or face the risk of being lost. To pass it on widely and for generations to come, I knew new thinking, new technology, and new elements needed to be infused.
Therefore, this "Calligraphy Self-Learning Software" carries forward my father's decades of calligraphy research and teaching methods, combined with modern technology and the rhythm of contemporary life. Drawing on my experience as a Le Cordon Bleu pastry chef and instructor at culinary academies, together with my online calligraphy teaching experience, these two professions merged to form the concept and core of this revolutionary calligraphy product. The course is structured according to "The Great Learning — Chapter One," so learners can study calligraphy while effortlessly gaining the wisdom of this classic — truly killing two birds with one stone!
It is my hope that this innovative endeavor can bring the blessings of China's time-honored culture and art to all learners.
